We are pleased to announce that our new single 'The Old and the Innocent' is available now on Kittiwake Records from iTunes and other good music services. You can hear it being played this week by Ally McCrae, Vic Galloway and Jim Gellatly and you can buy it here. Enjoy!
Well we did it! With a staggering response to our fundraising campaign we made it to Toronto for our CMW showcase gig. On top of that we managed to line up a further 5 shows, a radio session, some upcoming national airplay, a TV interview and a whole bunch of other stuff. We've had the week of our lives and want to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us and to everyone we met while in Canada for such an overwhelming reception at the shows.
We've put together a wee Instagram album of the trip which you can view here, and there's a blog here.
Only 2 days to go till Pelmet Nites' St Paddy's Day party at Glasgow's QMU! We're excited to be perfoming alongside the mighty Discopolis and Kobi Onyame among other top acts, and with our friends from Detour rounding up the night with their undoubtedly controversial DJ sets it'll be a great night all round.
Over the last few days we’ve started recording some new material. This has stirred up great excitement in Camp Aerials and we’re all feeling a bit inspired.
Now, feeling almost fully recovered from our big cycle last week, we are all able to sit down relatively comfortably again, and our bulging thigh and calf muscles have contracted just enough to allow us to wear jeans once again...[Read More]
Edinburgh! We've just announced a fundraising gig for Canadian Music Week at Sneaky Pete's on Cowgate for the 16th March. Support comes from local heroes the Deadly Winters and Mike Baillie and tickets will be available shortly on TicketWeb. Please come down and tell your friends!
This week's fundraising idea came from Aerials Up's sound engineer, generous man and all-round legend Tall Paul, and was to auction off 2 days in North Road Studios with him to spend however you please. The prize is worth £320. If you've heard Ally McRae playing the new Pronto Mama single on Radio 1 then you know what the big man can do, if not you can have a listen here.
Full details on the auction and our other fundraising schemes can be found on our new Canada Campaign homepage at www.aerialsup.com/canada.
We are chuffed to bits that both the physical copies of 'I Am' and the Superglue EP are now available from the lovely people at LoveMusic Glasgow thanks to popular demand. Support your local record shop!
We're delighted to announce that we've been nominated for Best Rock/Alternative act at the 2012 Scottish Alternative Music Awards.Voting is open now until Monday the 27th so please vote for us, it literally takes one single click at http://officialsama.co.uk/vote.
Firstly many thanks to everyone who has donated so far, we're off to a great start. Special thanks have to go to Greg and Michelle who won our competition last week.
Phase 2 of operation Get Aerials Up to Canada is taking the form of a fundraising cycle. To raise support for the cause all 7 of us are going to cycle to Toronto.... Avenue (Livingston) and back, a grand total of 70 miles. This will probably be a breeze for Murphy who, as noted by Neil, 'looks like a plane' when on his expensive road bike with all his gear on. However its going to be tough for the rest of us who are all of distinctly average fitness, so we're going to need all the support we can muster.
The mission takes place on March 3rd and you can donate using the link on the left, just add a note that its for the sponsored cycle.
Here at Aerials Up HQ we have had some great news, we are very pleased to announce we've been invited to play some shows at Canadian Music Week in March 2012! We've been blessed with lots of good fortune so far in our career but this is up there with the most exciting opportunities we've been given.
You'd be forgiven if you were to imagine our trip to Canada would entail all sorts of rock and roll antics and first class treatment – like Ruth and Cat trashing a luxury penthouse suite or Neil refusing to remove his Ray Bans in the First Class lounge – this however won't be the case. Although there's sure to be plenty of our usual antics, here in lies the problem - Aerials Up are a self-funded band, which means the cost of our flights, accommodation and petrol comes straight from our own pockets...
